Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan and actress Alia Bhatt and some other Indian artists have been invited to join the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscar). The academy has recently made public the list of invited artists.
These artists will have the right to vote at this year’s 93rd Oscar Awards if they accept membership. Among the 819 invited are designer Nita Lulla, documentary filmmakers Nisha Jain and Amit Madhesia, casting directors Nandini Srikanth and Tess Joseph, visual effects supervisors Vishal Anand and Sandeep Kamal, and film music composer Nainital Desai.
Filmmaker Milap Jhaveri tweeted that Hrithik and Alia are worthy of it. “Both are worth it,” he wrote. Hrithik and Alia are both very talented superstars. If they join the academy, their respect will increase.
The president of the academy, David Rubin, wrote in a statement on Tuesday, “The academy is pleased to welcome all these distinguished travellers to Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. We have always embraced exceptional talent that reflects the rich diversity of our global film community. ‘
This year’s Oscar date was set for February 28. However, the award has been shifted to April 25, 2021, after the screenings of most of the films were changed after the closure of the movie hall.
